Smoke House Deli New Menu Launch

I’m not a newbie to Smokehouse Deli. Or any of the Impressario brands for that matter. I’ve been to the restaurant on several occasions in the past but I never found it necessary to write a review. Sometimes when I go out to eat, I like focusing more on the food rather than clicking a whole bunch of pics. But since they have introduced 35 new dishes and these dishes are such a visual treat, I had to go ahead and write this.

We’re in the second month of the new year and the food scene in India never stops to impress us. From truly indulgent dishes to health conscious bites, the new SHD menu has it all.
Whats more, the new menu also brings out a super cool food for thought, ‘Sharing is Caring’, brought to life by the virtue of ‘communal dining’. So you dont have to worry anymore about anyone trying to dig into your food!!

Chef Saurabh Arora has brought in fresh, new flavours along with a culinary innovation to please your palate and eyes.
After tasting around 10 dishes (which is a good number, considering my size), I’ve picked out some of my favourites:

CRUNCHY MOZZARELLA FRITTERS + CHEESE POWDER

Being a hard core meat eater, this caught my attention. Slices of mozarella surrounded by a crunchy noodle batter having a great balance of flavours. stringy cheese.

PRAWN FRITTERS + SPICED MAYO

This has definitely got to be the highlight of the afternoon. Batter-fried prawns lightly flavoured making it such a beautiful dish. Even 10 minutes after it sat on the table while all the photo sessions were going on, they were crisp as ever.

SMOKED BLACK PEPPER CHICKEN

So truth is, I’m not one to go gaga over chicken especially if I have a choice of other meats to pick from but I have to give this dish a huge applaud as it really won my heart. Never expected chicken to be this tasty. Well marinated pieces of chicken having a gorgeous smoky flavour that will take your tastebuds to another level.

ROASTED SWEET CORN + SOUR CREAM, TRUFFLE OIL

A warm, comforting bowl of veggies perfect for a chilly afternoon. For me, the combination of sweet corn with sour cream worked. Couldn’t get the truffle flavour though!

SHD TOMATO + BOCCONCINI SALAD,QUEEN OLIVES, PESTO VINAIGRETTE

A fresh, healthy salad packed with a powerhouse of flavours. The sweet tomatoes and the egg sized mozzarella bits gave a great balance. Special mention to those juicy olives.

PEPPER CRUSTED CHICKEN + ROSEMARY RISOTTO

The arborio rice cooked to perfection along with the strong peppery flavour from the chicken gave a nice kick to this dish.

POTATO GNOCCHI + THREE CHEESE SAUCE, ROASTED VEGETABLES

When it comes to eating Italian, I’m a sucker of gnochhi. Love it with all my heart and this three cheese sauce one was such a beautiful preparation. It had the goodness of Parmesan, English Cheddar and Emmental that kept me going till the very last bite. Flavourful to the core.

SLOW COOKED BELGIAN SPARE RIBS + APPLE SLAW

If you’re a pork lover like me, you would definitely like this dish although some felt the Roast Chicken was their best bet. I’m not a fan of egg so that poached egg help but this a dish I could dig into. Well marinated, only a bit too tough it had a punch of flavour.

MILK CAKE + TOASTED HAZELNUTS

A slice of moist sponge cake soaking in condensed milk brought back childhood memories of me being that fat kid, eating an entire piece of cake in one sitting not bothered about the rest of the world. The addition of toasted hazelnuts gives it a lovely feel.

WHITE CHOCOLATE + LEMON MOLTEN CHOCOLATE CAKE

One cut into this decadent dessert and you witness a lemon filling oozing out. Chocolate and Lemon. You can never really go wrong with these two ingredients and it was such a refreshing end to a lavish meal.
The sweet flavour from the white chocolate is well balanced out with the tanginess of the lemon compote.
