“There is no love sincerer than the love of food”
Hello my yum tums,
I know its been a while since I last posted, but like I mentioned before, it’s not that easy when you have no access to the unlimited extra high speed WiFi back home.
Anyways, this is just a few thoughts from my side about the most happening event in town.
Due to being pressed for time, I haven’t been able to write much and add my creative touch to it. But I still do hope that by reading this you will get the jist of it and if you couldn’t make it this year, then you most definitely wouldn’t want to miss out on the next one!
It’s not everyday that one gets to be surrounded by so much food. From phuchkas to dhansak to nachos to pastas
You name it, it’s there!!!
Indeed, it is every foodie’s perfect destination this weekend and I was lucky enough to have gotten the chance to attend it last afternoon.
So here’s my experience….
To tell you the truth, this was my first exclusive food and wine festival that I ever attended where both are my precious babies, so you can imagine how crazy I went!
Firstly, I have to say that it was a well organized event which took off with a great bang
The inauguration took place at 11 am at the World Trade Center Lawns, Cuffe Parade by power woman Perizaad Zorabian and Zeba Kohli with power editor Farzana Contractor.
I got the opportunity to brush up some of my own culinary skills and have a few words with the pro: Chef Harpal Singh Solkhi, host of Turban Tadka on FOOD FOOD and he launched his own soup range.
Apart from this, there were so many other exciting things to see around….
FoodHall were selling some really unique kitchen equipment for all you vivacious folks out there!
There were so many food stalls to satisfy your hungry urges from such as The Pasta Factory, Parsi Da Dhaba, Jaffer Bhai’s Indian, Bong bong, Bachelorr’s, Wok in the box and Sancho’s.
Gourmet It Up, a website that offers some of the best dining experiences were quite active getting people to register with them and in return they handed over Rs 500/- Discount gift coupons.
So I was one of the lucky ones!!!
I decided to eat at Bong Bong as I haven’t had the authentic Bengali chicken roll and it really took me to surprise.
It was bursting with great flavours and very filling too.
Then we went over to the Shopping Arcade where all the real fun began…
For the first time, they presented: The Gourmet Junction by young entrepreneurs and food bloggers.
If only I didn’t live in the hostel and had my own kitchen, I could have been a part of that.
This consisted of food on tables that you see everyday and some that you’ve never even heard of before.
The best part was you could taste what you saw too.
So there were different types of cheese, soups, nachos, popcorn flavors, pickles, scented teas, ready to eat treats, chocolates, cold cuts, barbecue grills and the list goes on and on
By the end of it, I was exhausted. But no complains. Had a blast! ☺☺
I met Rushina Munshaw Ghildiyal, the woman behind APB Cook Studio, India’s first state of the art kitchen studio and a successful food writer and blogger.
Yesssss I am a HUGE fan of hers and it was even more funny to hear her response to that.
She is such a wonderful and talented woman. Hope I get a chance to follow her footsteps too and work with her sometime!
The disappointing part was that inside the Arcade, we were banned from clicking pictures. So yeah, don’t have any!
But all in all, it was a fabulous sunny afternoon to be in the midst of people who think just like you when it comes to gastronomy.
Being a food fanatic ain’t a bad thing at all!
